Community Guidelines
Last updated: February 16, 2026
Zerca is built for spontaneous, small-group meetups in Puerto Rico. To keep the community safe, respectful, and reliable, we ask all members to follow these guidelines.
1. Be Respectful
Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Zerca is a space for making real connections with real people.
- No harassment, intimidation, or bullying of any kind
- No discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or background
- No hate speech, slurs, or derogatory language
- Be welcoming to newcomers — everyone starts somewhere
2. Public Places Only
All meetups must take place in public locations. This is a core safety principle of Zerca.
- Only create plans for public venues: parks, restaurants, cafes, beaches, gyms, etc.
- Never share private addresses or invite people to private residences
- Include clear meeting point notes (e.g., "by the kiosk" or "front entrance")
3. Be Reliable
If you RSVP to a plan, show up. Reliability is the foundation of trust in our community.
- Repeated no-shows affect your reliability score and others' plans
- If you can't make it, cancel your RSVP as early as possible
- Hosts: confirm your plan at least 1 hour before start time
4. Keep It Safe
Your safety and the safety of others should always come first.
- Don't engage in or promote illegal activities
- Report suspicious behavior immediately using the in-app report feature
- In an emergency, call 911 first, then use the in-app emergency report
5. No Spam or Scams
Keep the platform genuine. Zerca is for real meetups, not promotion or deception.
- Don't create fake or misleading plans
- Don't spam group chats or other users with unsolicited messages
- Don't use the platform for commercial solicitation without authorization
- Don't attempt to manipulate trust levels or reliability scores
6. Respect Privacy
Protect the privacy of fellow community members.
- Don't share others' personal information without their consent
- Don't screenshot or share private group chat conversations
- What happens in the group stays in the group — unless safety is at risk
7. Honest Profiles
Be yourself. Trust starts with authenticity.
- Use your real photo and name
- Don't impersonate others or create fake accounts
- Don't create multiple accounts to circumvent bans or restrictions
8. Report Concerns
If you feel unsafe or see something that violates these guidelines, let us know.
- Use the in-app report feature on profiles, plans, or chat messages
- We take all reports seriously and review them promptly
- You can block users at any time from their profile
Consequences
Violations of these guidelines may result in escalating consequences depending on the severity and frequency of the offense:
- Warning — A notice to correct the behavior
- Visibility throttling — Reduced reach of your plans in the feed and map
- Temporary suspension — Loss of access to the platform for a defined period
- Permanent ban — Removal from Zerca with no option to create a new account
Serious violations such as threats, illegal activity, or endangering others may result in immediate permanent suspension without prior warning.
