Zerca ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Zerca mobile application ("App").

Account Information

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Profile photo and bio
  • Linked social media accounts (e.g., Instagram)

Location Data

  • Location when creating or browsing plans
  • Check-in location for attendance verification
  • Location is collected only while actively using the App

Activity & Usage Data

  • Plans you create, join, or attend
  • Check-in history and reliability scores
  • RSVP, join, leave, and cancellation events

Chat & Device Data

  • In-app group chat messages
  • Device type, OS, push notification tokens
  • Basic IP address for abuse prevention

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide, operate, and improve the App
  • Show relevant plans near your location
  • Calculate trust levels and reliability scores
  • Send push notifications about plan updates
  • Enforce community safety through moderation
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services

  • Clerk — Authentication and identity management
  • Expo Push Notifications — Notification delivery
  • MapLibre / OpenStreetMap — Map display

If you join a WhatsApp group linked from a plan, your phone number may be visible to other group members. Zerca is not responsible for data shared through WhatsApp.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: while active + 30 days after deletion
  • Plan & attendance data: 12 months after plan date
  • Chat messages: 90 days after plan ends
  • Reports & safety data: 24 months
  • Device & technical data: 6 months

6. Your Rights

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information via profile settings
  • Deletion: Request account deletion via settings or privacy@zerca.app
  • Data portability: Request data export
  • Opt out: Disable push notifications via device settings

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest and secure authentication through Clerk.

8. Children's Privacy

Zerca is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or via email.
